The Brooklyn police officer "pointed at my outfit and said, 'Don't you think your shorts are a little short?'"
"He also stopped two other women wearing dresses... pointed at their dresses and said they were showing a lot of skin."
You'd think by now the cops would have figured out how to broach this touchy subject. Look at this response from the woman quoted at the first link: "I can't wear shorts? Besides the fact that I wasn't wearing anything that was inappropriate or provocative…. I don't think that should be part of the problem. At all." Of course, she's right, but the annals of crime are full of innocent victims. The cops would like to encourage people to defend against crime, but advice from an authority figure feels like a restriction of your freedom... which the police know and use to control people.

He said that such clothing could make the suspect think he had "easy access".... She said the officer explained that "you're exactly the kind of girl this guy is targeting."...Flashback to the Canadian cop who caught hell and sparked the Slutwalk movement. Messi takes records in his stride
Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi claims he is not about to get carried away with his achievement after equaling Ladislao Kubala in the club's goalscoring charts.
Messi netted a brace in Barca's 5-0 UEFA Champions League win over BATE Borisov on Wednesday to reach 194 goals for the Catalans. A remarkable feat considering the Budapest-born attacker brought up his tally over a12 year spell at the Nou Camp while Messi made his debut for the Barca first team back in November 2003.
"I am very satisfied that I have equalled someone who has been so important for this club in the past. I am really happy," Messi told Marca.
"I knew that I could equal Kubala, but I didn't think about it before the match. I just want to do a good job and help the team."

One of the Royal Navy's most senior officers has expressed serious concerns over the loss of skilled aircraft carrier crew following redundancies.
The officer, who plays a key role in maintaining the Fleet, has also told colleagues that there are substantial doubts over whether the Navy will have enough sailors to man its ships after it will lose one in seven sailors in defence cuts.
The lack of adequately training personnel could delay the carrier coming into service by another three or four years, the Navy commander has said.
Another officer has told The Telegraph that the loss of carrier deck handling skills could prove "disastrous" with fatal accidents caused by inexperienced ratings.
